The Will of George Bullock

The 1762 Will of George Bullock, Linman & Draper of Yeovil

 

In the Name of God Amen I George Bullock of Yeovil in the County of Somerset Linman Draper being through the Goodness of God in health of Body and Mind Yet considering the uncertainty of life Do make and ordain this my last Will and Testament And as my first and chiefest concern I commit my Soul into the Hand of God my Creator hoping for Salvation in and through the Merits and Moderation of Jesus Christ his Son the only Saviour of Sinners And as to the Worldly Goods which God has bestowed on me I dispose of them in the following manner that is to say First I order and direct that all my lawful Debts be justly paid Also that the yearly sum of Fifty Shillings shall continue to be paid by the Successors to my Estate towards the support of the Baptist Congregation in Yeovil aforesaid according to the direction of my dear Mother Mary Bullock in her last Will Also I give to my Cousin Mary Hoskens of Yeovil ten pounds Also I give to John Hibbard of Yeovil ten pounds Also I give and bequeath All the Rest and Residue of my personal Estate And all my Real Estate whatsoever and wheresoever to my beloved Sister Mary Steele the Wife of William Steele the Younger of Broughton in the County of Southampton Timber Merchant for and during the Term of her natural life from and immediately after her decease to my beloved Niece Mary Steele the Younger Daughter of the above named William Steele the Younger her Heirs and Assigns for ever But if my said Niece Mary Steele the Younger should die without lawful issue before the twenty second day of July which shall be in the Year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and seventy four on which day she will if living be twenty one years of age I then give and bequeath All the said Rest and Residue of my Personal Estate And all my Real Estate whatsoever and wheresoever from and immediately after her decease to my Brother in Law the above named William Steele the Younger his Heirs and Assigns for ever And Lastly I do nominate and appoint the said William Steele the Younger Father of my said Niece Mary Steele the Younger and William Steele the Elder of Broughton aforesaid to be Executors In Trust of this my last Will and Testament In Witness whereof I have hereunto set my Hand and Seal this nineteenth day of January in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and sixty two

This Will was proved at London the twenty third say of March in the Year of Our Lord one thousand seven hundred and seventy four Before the Right Worshipful Sir George Kay Knight Doctor of Law Master Keeper or Commissary of the Prerogative Court of Canterbury lawfully constituted By the Oath of William Steele the Younger the surviving Executor named in the said Will to whom Administration was granted of all and singular the Goods Chattels and Credits of the deceased having been first sworn by Commission only to Administer
