1747 Will of Sarah Stoodly

Spinster

 

In the Name of God Amen the sixteenth day of April in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and forty seven I Sarah Stoodly of Yeovil in the County of Somerset being of perfect Mind and memory thanks be given unto God do make and Ordain this my last Will and Testament in manner and Form following that is to say First of all I give and recommend my Soul into the Hands of God that gave it. And for my Body I recommend it to the Earth to be buryed in a Christian like and decent manner with the Pall and Pall Bearers and as touching such Worldly Estate wherewith it hath pleased God to bless me in this Life I Give and Devise in the manner and Form following Imprimis I Give unto my Brother the Reverend Francis Partridge the Sum of five Pounds Item I give unto my Cousin Elizabeth Partridge my Silver Tea Pott Item I give unto my Cousin Penelope Partridge my Mourning Ring. Item I give unto my Cousin Joanna Coward one Guinea Item I give unto my Unckle John Bartlet one Guinea Item al the rest of my Goods and plate and Wearing Apparel I give unto my two Cousins Penelope and Elizabeth Partridge Daughters of the Reverend Mr Francis Partridge to be equally divided between them And I also nominate and Appoint my Cousins and Elizabeth Partridge sole Executrixes of this my last Will and Testament And I do likewise Nominate and Appoint my two Friends Mr Edward Forbes and Mr Christopher Sanderson [word illegible] in London to be Friends in Trust to see this my last Will and Testament performed And do give to each of them one Guinea apiece to buy them a Mourning Ring In Witness whereof I have hereunto set my Hand and Seal the day and Year above written And my Will further is that if my two Cousins my Executrixes should dye without Issue that it might remain unto the Reverend Mr Francis Partridge my Brother

On the twenty sixth Day of February in the Year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and fifty Admin[istrati]on with the Will annexed of all and singular the Goods Chattels and Credits of Sarah Stoodly late of Yeovill in the County of Somerset Spinster deceased was granted to Francis Partridge Clerk the Father and Curator lawfully assigned to Penelope Partridge and Elizabeth Partridge Spinsters Minors Executrixes named in the said Will for the use and Benefit of the said Minors until one of them shall attain the Age of seventeen Years being first sworn by Commission duly to Administer.
