1759 will of Mary Pittard

Widow

 

I Mary Pittard of Yeovill in the County of Somerset Widow considering the uncertainty of life and being desirous while my Health and Understanding permit me to Settle and dispose of such Estates and Effects as are within my Power or Property Do make this my last Will and Testament I give and devise unto Mark Wills and Mary Wills Son and Daughter of William Wills late of Sherborne in the County of Dorset Yeoman deceased and to their heirs and assigns for ever all my real and Personal Estate whatsoever which I now have or may dye Seized of Charged and Chargeable nevertheless with the payment of the several Sums of Money or Legacys to the several Persons hereinafter mentioned which Sums or Legacies I charge thereon accordingly and to be paid them respectively in Six Months after my decease (that is to say) To Mary Hodges Wife of Thomas Hodges of Yeovill aforesaid Carpenter the Sum of twenty pounds To John Hodges Son of the said Thomas Hodges  and Mary his Wife the Sum of five pounds To Joseph Hodges another Son of the said Thomas Hodges  and Mary his Wife the like Sum of five pounds To Hester [Bonnell ?] the younger of Yeovill aforesaid Spinster the Sum of ten pounds To Ann Everton of the same place Spinster the Sum of five pounds To James Pittard of the same place Lincloth Weaver the like Sum of Five pounds To Mary Pittard of the same place Widow and Relict of William Pittard deceased late Brother of the said James Pittard the like Sum of five pounds To Martha Mines of Yeovill aforesaid Widow the Sum of two pounds and two Shillings To Mary Bozey d[aughte]r of Judith Bozey of Yeovill aforesaid Widow the like Sum of five pounds To John Swetman the Younger of Melbury in the County of Dorset the like Sum of five pounds To Susannah Wife of [blank space] Caping of Stalbridge in the said County of Dorset twenty pounds and to Mary Rabbitts otherwise Roberts of Oversholt in the said County of Dorset the like Sum of five pounds and I do hereby make and appoint the said Mark Wills and Mary Wills Executor and Executrix of this my last Will and Testament herby revoking all former Wills by me made In Witness whereof I have to this my last Will and Testament set my hand and seal the fourteenth day of July in the thirty third year of the Reign of our Sovereign Lord George the second by the Grace of God of Great Britain France and Ireland King Defender of the Faith and so forth in the year of our Lord One thousand seven hundred and fifty nine

Signed Sealed Published and declared by the said Testatrix as and for her last Will and Testament in the presence of us who at her Request have attested the same in her presence and in the presence of each other

I Mary Pittard of Yeovill in the County of Somerset Widow do this Nineteenth day of November in the Year of Our Lord one thousand seven hundred and sixty five make and publish this my Codicil to my last Will and Testament in manner following (that is to say) Whereas I have in and by my last Will and Testament which bears date the Fourteenth day of July in the Year of Our Lord one thousand seven hundred and fifty nine given unto Mary Pittard Widow and Relict of William Pittard deceased late Brother of James Pittard the Sum of five pounds and no more I do therefore by this my Codicil give unto the said Mary Pittard Widow and Relict of William Pittard deceased the further Sum of five pounds of lawfull money of Great Britain over and above the said Sum of five pounds so given to her as aforesaid by my said Will to be paid to her by the Executor and Executrix of such my said Will in six Months after my decease Also I Give unto the said Mary Pittard a good and decent Suit of Mourning to be given and provided for her immediately on my decease by my Executor and Executrix and I give her these additional Legacys as a Reward for her faithfull Services to me during my present Sickness and Lastly it is my desire that this present Codicil be Annexed to and made a part of my last Will and Testament to all intents and purposes In Witness whereof I have hereunto put my hand and seal the thirteenth day of November one thousand seven hundred and sixty five

This Will was proved at London with a Codicil the thirteenth day of May in the year of Our Lord one thousand seven hundred and sixty six before the Right Worshipful George Hay Doctor of Laws Master Keeper or Commissary of the Prerogative Court of Canterbury lawfully Constituted by the Oaths of mark Wills and Mary Wills Spinster the Executors named in the said Will to whom Administration was granted of all and Singular the Goods Chattels and Credits of the deceased they having been first Sworn by Commission duly to Administer.
