1650 will of richard rowe

Yeoman of Groape Lane

 

In the name of God Amen the foure and twentieth day of May in the yeare of our Lord god one thousand six hundred and Fifty I Richard Rowe of yevell in the County of Somerset yeoman being weake in body but in perfect minde and memory thankes be given to Almighty god Doe make and ordaine this my last will and testament in manner and forme following First I comend and render my soule into the handes of Almighty god my Creator hopeing through the merritts of Jesus Christ my Saviour and Redeemer to have Remission of all my sinnes and to be made partaker of [word illegible] in the Kingdome of heaven And my body I desire may be interred in christian buriall in a decent manner at the discretion of my Executrix hereafter named And as touching such worldly goods and estate as it hath pleased Almighty god to make me an unworthy Steward of I give will and devise them in manner and forme following First I give will and devise unto Joane my wife all such terme of yeares and estate whatsoever which I now have or hereafter shall or may have in ot to all or any the Faires Markett or Marketts shelves or Standings of and in the markett place of yeavell aforesaid And all the issue profitt and benefitt of all marketts and faires or to be from time to time held and kept within the same together with all the goods and materialls for standings or standing places incident or belonging to the same To have and to hold the same for and dureing all my terme or termes therein Item I give will and devise unto Joane my said wife All that my dwelling house wherein I now live scituate and being in Groape Lane in yevell aforesaid And all [reste ?] outhouses gardens walles and ways places to the said Dwellinge house incident and belonging To have and to hold the same unto Joane my said wife and to her heires for ever Item I give will and devise unto my said wife all such goods implements and household stuffe as at the time of my decease I shall have standing or being in my said dwellinghouse Item I give and bequeath unto my three of my daughters [yt = that] is to say [Emm ?] Katherine and Dorothy to each of them twenty pounds to be paid by my Executrix within two yeares after my decease Item I give and bequeath unto Gertrude my daughter five shillings Item I give and bequeath unto Ellinor my daughter tenn pounds to be paid by my Executrix also within two yeares after my decease And further I doe hereby [word illegible] rendure disavowe and make voyd all former will and wills by me at any time hereto made or published All the residue of my goods and chattells not formerly given nor bequeathed my funerall expences discharged I give and bequeath unto my aforesaid wife Joane whom I doe make to be the whole and sole Executrix of this my last will and testament And I doe desire and appoint Thomas Napper gent and William Banton my loveing friends to be Overseers of this my last will and testament and to see the same performed And for their painse I doe give each of them five shillings In wittnes whereof I the said Richard Roe have hereunto set my hand and seale the day and yeare first above written

This will was proved at London before Nathaniel Brent Knight and Doctor of Laws Master or Keeper of the Prerogative Court the last day of January in the yeare of our Lord god one thousand six hundred Fifty one according to the computation of the Church of England by the oath of Joane Rowe the Relict of the said Deceased and Executrix named in the said will To whom was comitted administration of all and singular the goods chattells and debts of the said Deceased shee being first legally sworne well and faithfully to administer the same
