1744 Will of Thomas Knight

Gentleman

 

The Last Will and Testament of me Thomas Knight of Yeovill in the County of Somersett Gentleman made this thirteenth day of December in the Year of our Lord One thousand Seven hundred and forty four and first my Will is that all my just Debts may be fully paid and satisfyed And also my Will is that I may be Buryed by my dear Wife in the Chancell of the Parish Church of Closworth in the said County and that my funeral Expences may not exceed the sum of Eight Pounds Also I give and bequeath unto my two Daughters Elizabeth Knight and Issabella Knight the sum of Four hundred and twenty pounds apeice to be paid unto each of them within six Months after my decease by my Executrix hereinafter named Also I give and bequeath unto my Grandaughter Mary Beacham the sum of One hundred pounds at her Age of one and twenty Years and my Will is that the Interest thereof in the mean time shall be laid up for her Use as an Augmentation of her Legacy or to be laid out and paid for or towards her Maintenance and Education in uch manner as my said Executrix shall think proper Alo I give and bequeath unto my Grandson Francis Edwards my Watch Silver Spurrs Sword and all my Law Books Also I do Nominate and Appoint my Daughter Ann Knight to be the Lords next Tenant to all that my Customary Tenement with its Appurtenances lying in Yetminster in the County of Dorsett called Frenches Tenement and lately in the possession of Richard Mundeen deceased To hold to her and her Assigns according to the Custom of the Manor to which the same belongs Also I do Nominate and Appoint Mr Arthur Cosens of Yetminster aforesaid to be the Lords next Tenant to all that Customary Tenement with its Appurtenances lying in Yetminster aforesaid called Grinsteds higher Tenement deceased To hold to him and his Assigns according to the Custom of the Manor to which the same belongs under the Trusts mentioned in his late Fathers Will concerning the same Also I give devise and bequeath unto my said Daughter Ann Knight all my Real Estate Goods Chattles and Personal Estate whatsoever and wheresoever chargeable with the payment of all my said Debts and Legacys hereinbefore by me givn and I do hereby make her the said Ann Knight sole Executrix of this my last Will and Testament hereby revoking and making void all former Wills by me made In Witness whereof I have hereunto sett my Hand and Seal the day and year above written

This Will was proved at London the twenty first day of June in the Year of our Lord One thousand Seven hundred and forty eight before the Right Worshipfull John Bettesworth Doctor of Laws Master Keeper or Commissary of the Prerogative Court of Canterbury lawfully constituted by the Oath of Ann Knight Spinster the Daughter and sole Executrix named in the said Will To whom Administration was granted of all and singular the Goods Chattles and Creditts of the deceased being first sworn by Commission duly to Administer
