1788 Will of James Arnold
Corwainer
By this my last Will and Testament I James Arnold of Yeovil in the County of Somerset Cordwainer do give and bequeath unto my Children James Arnold Ann Arnold Mary wife of [Gidyon?] Cox Rebecca wife of Joseph Vining and Betty wife of Robert Munden their respective Executors and Administrators all my Household and other Goods Moneys Securities for Money Chattels debts and personal Estate whatsoever and wheresoever To hold and enjoy the same as tenants in Common and I do nominate and appoint my said two daughters Ann Arnold and Rebecca wife of the said Joseph Vining Executrixes of this my will In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal the thirty first day of December in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and eighty seven

Signed sealed published and delivered by the said Testator James Arnold as and for his last will and testament in the presence of us who subscribed our names as witnesses thereto in his presence and at his request and in the presence of each other

My Will is to give to my daughter Ann the Bed and Furniture of that Bed that she has in and the clock and looking glass and Chest of draws and the large Bible and oak Round Table and chairs of the other goods and the Silver Spoons to be divided between my four daughters Ann Arnold Mary Cox Rebecca Vining and Betsy Munden in Witness

having Sworn on
the Holy
Evangelists to
depose the truth
made Oath and
the said John
Hebbard affirmed
as follows that
they knew and
were well
acquainted with
James Arnold
late of Yeovill
in the County of
Somerset
Deceased for
some time before
[And?] to the
time of his
Death and during
such their
knowledge of and
acquaintance
with him have
often seen him
write and
subscribe has
name and by that
means are become
well acquainted
with his manner
and character of
hand writing and
subscription and
having now
carefully viewed
and perused the
name James
Arnold set and
subscribed at
the foot or
bottom of the
paper writing
hereunto annexed
purporting to be
and contain a
Codicil to the
last Will and
Testament of the
said deceased
beginning thus
"My Will is to
give my daughter
Ann" and ending
thus "Witness

as aforesaid do
say that they
verikly and in
their
consciences
believe the said
words or names
James Arnold to
be wrote and
subscribed by
and with the
proper hand of
the said James
Arnold deceased

same day the said John Hebbard being out of the people called Quakers affirmed and Thomas Mead was duly Sworn to the truth of the above written affidavit by virtue of the Commission hereto annexed Before me FC Parsons Commissioner In the presence of us Notary Public residing in Yeovill where this Commission was executed
