1803 Will of Ann Pitt

Spinster

 

In the Name of God Amen this is the last will and testament of me Ann Pitt Spinster now residing with Mrs Mary King Bookseller and Stationer in the Town of Yeovil in the County of Somerset my will is as follows that is to say I give unto my dear Friend  Mrs Elizabeth [Toms ?] or Warden Newton in the County of Dorset Widow every one of my Towels and Napkins and one half of my Wearing Apparel likewise my Book of the Feasts and Fasts of the Church of England and all my Volumes of Sermons and the new whole Duty of Man To my most dear Friend Mrs Sarah Barrett Wife of Mr John Barrett of Yetminster in the County of Dorset I give the other half of my wearing apparel my large Bible my red common prayer Book Brookes Gazetteer and my large Dictionary and my paste hair [Sheer ?] it having been left me by Miss Gardiner To my dear and respected Friend Mrs Mary Syndercombe now residing at Bridport Dorset I give my three Volumes of [Sterius ?] Meditations and Doctor Taylors holy Living and [word illegible] Dear Cousin Mr George Westlake of Exeter in the County of Devon I give my large common prayer Book bound in Black with Copper Plates it having formerly belonged to Mrs Mansfield Aunt to both our Mothers likewise a Volume of Dr Sherlocks Works given me by his Father to my dear cousin Mrs Jane Filmore Richardson daughter of Mr George Westlake I give all my Rings I give to my dear Cousins Eliza Dorothea Mary and Ann Westlake daughters of Mr George Westlake all my Ear rings [word illegible] paste pins and Sprigs and two Guineas to each of them and to their Brother George Westlake to buy Rings in Remembrance of me To my dear and valued Friend Mrs Frances Pearce of Exeter I give two Guineas for a Ring to my dear and respected Friend Mrs Mary Syndercombe  of Bridport Dorset I give two Guineas for a Ring To my very dear and valued Friends Mr Joshua Carter of Bridport Dorset and his Wife Mrs Elizabeth Carter I give two Guineas each for Rings and the like Sum for the same purpose to my kind Friend Mr Andrew Abbott of Fleet Street London To Mr Caleb Barrett Junior of Corton Denham in the County of Somerset I give five Guineas for a Ring and the like Sum for the same purpose to Mrs Susan Longman Bown and Miss Abigail Barrett his Sisters to my most dear and kind Friend Mrs Mary King of Yeovil Somerset I give two Guineas for a Ring to Mrs [Jenny ?] Chick Wife of Mr William Chick Bridport I give two Guineas for a Ring I give to my Cousin Mr George Westlake of Exeter the Sum of ten pounds now in the five per cents of 1797 To Mrs Elizabeth Jones of Maiden Newton Dorset I give the like Sum of ten pounds now in the five per cents of 1797 I give the Sum of ten pounds now in the five per cents of 1797 to Mr Joshua Carter of Bridport Dorset and Mrs Elizabeth Carter his Wife I give ten pounds each now in the five per cents of 1797 lastly I do constitute and appoint my most Dear and Valued Friend Mr John Barrett of Yetminster in the county of Dorset Bag Maker and Mrs Sarah Barrett his Wife to be my whole and sole Executors as witness my hand this twenty first day of February in the year of our Lord One thousand eight hundred and three

This Will was proved at London the first day of June in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and five before the Right Honourable Sir William Wynne Knight Doctor of Laws Master Keeper of Commissary of the Prerogative Court of Canterbury lawfully constituted by the Oaths of John Barrett and Sarah Barrett (wife of the said John Barrett) the Executors named in the said will to whom Adm[inistrati]on was granted of all and singular the Goods Chattels and Credits of the deceased having been first sworn by Commission duly to administer
