1818 Will of Ann Cox

Widow

 

This is the last Will and Testament of me Ann Cox of Yeovil in the County of Somerset Widow I give and devise to my Cousin Charles Masters all that Messuage or Tenement now in my possession with the workshop Warehouse Garden Orchard and Hereditaments thereto belonging To hold to and to the use of the said Charles Masters his Heirs and assigns for ever subject nevertheless to and charged and chargeable with the payment of the weekly sums of money hereinafter mentioned  I give and bequeath unto my Cousin Elizabeth Masters Spinster the weekly sum of Four shillings to be paid to her on the Monday in each week during the term of her natural life  I give and bequeath to Mary Stephens Wife of John Stephens now or late of Yeovil aforesaid Gardener the weekly sum of two shillings to be paid her on the Monday in each week during the term of her natural life  I give and bequeath to John Stephens the younger (Son of the said John Stephens and Mary his Wife) the like weekly sum of two shillings to be paid him on the Monday in each week during the term of his natural life life  I give and bequeath to Philip Francis of Yeovil aforesaid Glover (formerly Silversmith and afterwards Innkeeper) the like weekly sum of two shillings to be paid him on the Monday in each week during the term of his natural life All which weekly payments I do hereby charge on the said Messuage or Tenement workshop Warehouse Garden Orchard and Hereditaments so devised to the said Charles Masters his Heirs and Assigns as aforesaid and I do direct that the several Legacies hereinbefore named shall have the usual powers of distress thereon in case the said weekly sums or any or either of them shall not be duly paid upon demand I give and bequeath to my Cousin John Masters the sum of Fifty pounds of like money I give and bequeath to my Cousin Thomas Masters the like sum of Fifty pounds of like money I give and bequeath to James Cox Etheridge Son of Henry Etheridge of Yeovil aforesaid Grocer the sum of three hundred pounds now due and owing to me from the said Henry Etheridge upon the promissory note under the hand of the said Henry Etheridge dated on or about the nineteenth day of January one thousand eight hundred and Fifteen payable at two months notice  I give and bequeath to my late Husbands Brother Charles Cox the sum of ten pounds of like money  to my late Husbands Brother George Cox the like sum of ten pounds of like money to my late Husbands Brother Joseph Cox the like sum of ten pounds of like money to my late Husbands Sister Joan Bawdon  the like sum of ten pounds of like money  to my Cousin Elizabeth Banger Daughter of my late Uncle William Banger deceased the sum of One hundred pounds of like money To Elizabeth Masters Daughter of my late Cousin James Masters deceased the sum of Fifty pounds of like money to Lucy Etheridge Daughter of the said Henry Etheridge the sum of nineteen guineas of like money to Thomas Etheridge Son of the said Henry Etheridge the like sum of nineteen guineas of like money to Henry Etheridge the younger Son of the said Henry Etheridge the like sum of nineteen guineas of like money to William Etheridge another Son of the said Henry Etheridge the Father the like sum of nineteen guineas of like money  to my Servant Susannah Boucher the sum of Ten pounds of like money to Fanny otherwise Frances Allen Wife of William Allen of Yeovil aforesaid Laborer the sum of Five pounds of like money and to my washerwoman Rebecca Pardy the like sum of Five pounds of like money All which Legacies I direct shall be paid within twelve months next after my decease I give and bequeath to my Friends Henry Collins the Elder Gentleman William Willmington Glover and John Neal [Twine?] Spinner all residing in yeovil aforesaid the sum of ten Guineas each  I give and bequeath to Elizabeth the Wife of the said Henry Collins to Elizabeth Masters the Widow of the late William Hooper Masters to Elizabeth Henning of Hollway in the parish of Cattistock in the County of Dorset Widow to my Brother in Law John Pratt to William Lambert White of Yeovil aforesaid Gentleman and to Ann his Wife the sum of two Guineas each to by them mourning rings I give and bequeath to Ann the Wife of the said Henry Etheridge the mourning which I had in memory of my late Husband I give and bequeath to the said Maria Masters my three other rings I give and bequeath my wearing apparel to the said Ann Etheridge Elizabeth Masters Spinster Maria Masters and the Maid Servant that may be [living?] in my service at the time of my decease to be divided amongst them by the said Elizabeth Masters Widow and Elizabeth Collins in such manner shares and proportions as they shall think proper  All the rest residue and remainder of my personal Estate and Effects whatsoever and wheresoever subject to the payment of my debts Legacies Funeral expences and the expences of proving this my Will I give and bequeath to the said Charles Masters his Executors Administrators and Assigns And I do hereby nominate constitute and appoint the said Charles Masters whole and sole Executor of this my Will and do revoke all others by me at any time heretofore made and declare this to be my last Will and Testament In Witness whereof I have to this my last Will and Testament contained in two sheets of paper subscribed my hand to the first sheet and subscribed and set my hand and seal to this second and last sheet thereof this twenty fourth day of December one thousand eight hundred and eighteen

Proved at London 25th February 1819 before the Judge by the Oath of Charles Masters the sole Executor to whom Adm[inistrati]on was granted being first sworn by Com[missi]on duly to Adm[iniste]r
