I John Jeanes of
Yeovill in the
County of
Somersett
Malster being of
sound and
disposing mind
memory and
Understanding
but considering
the uncertainty
of this life do
make this my
last will and
Testament in
writeing in
manner and forme
following
Imprimis I give
unto Jane my
wife for her
life All that my
house wherein I
now dwell with
the Malt House &
barnes stables
and other
outhouses
together with
the Orchards
gardens and
backside and
other the
appurten[an]ces
thereunto
belonging or in
any wise
appertaining And
also my paddock
Orcharde neare
the same And
also those my
two grounds
called
Long Closes
and a ground
called
Bear hill
All which said
premisses are
scituate lying
and being in
Yeovill
aforesaid And
from and after
the decease
decease of my
said wife I give
devise and
bequeath the
same to my
Nephews Thomas
Burford of [word

Clerke Office in
the County of
Middlesex
Gentleman and
John Burford one
of the Fellows
of Kings
Colledge in
Cambridge
Gentleman and
their heires
dureing the
naturall life of
my daughter Mary
together with
one ground
called
Milford and
two acres in
Gold Croft
One acre in
Goare feild
and
Yeovill Bridge
Mead
together with
all those foure
peices of ground
called
Ryalls in
the parish of
Yeovill
aforesaid In
trust to apply
and dispose of
the rents issues
and profitts
thereof to the
proper hands of
my said daughter
or as she shall
appoint And that
her receipt
alone
notwithstanding
her Coverture
shall be a
sufficient
discharge
And my Will is that the Estate before mentioned or any part thereof shall
not be in the
power of her
present or any
future husband
or subject to
his or their
debts and from
and after the
decease of my
said daughter
Mary I give
devise and
bequeath the
same unto the
first and every
other sonn and
sonns of the
body of my said
daughter
severally and
successively as
they shall be in
priority of
birth or
seniority of age
during the terms
of their
naturall lives
with remaindere
to the said
Thomas and John
Burford and
their heires
during the lives
of such first
and other sonn
and sonns of the
body of my said
daughter as they
shall
respectively be
in the actuall
possession of
the premises In
trust to
preserve
contingent
Remainders
Remainder to the
heires male of
the respective
body and bodies
of such first
and other sonn
and sonns of the

daughter

first and every
other daughter
and daughters of
the body of my
said daughter
Mary for and
during their
respective lives
with remainder

Thomas and John
Burford and
their heires
during the
respective lives
of such daughter

William Goodford
for and during
the terme of his
naturall life
But my Will and
desire is that
when my said son
Goodford shall
come to be
possessed of the
premisses
aforesaid he
shall not do nor
suffer to be
done and manner
of wast or spoil
on the premisses
he shall pay or
cause to be paid
one Annuity or
rent charge of
Thirty pounds
per annum unto
my brother Henry
Jeanes for the
terme of his
life and to his
issue if any
living at his
decease out of
the said Estate
free of all
taxes or
outgoings
whatsoever And
in case my said
brother Henry
Jeanes should
happen to dye
before my said
daughter then my
Will and desire
is that when my
said son
Goodford shall
come to be
possessed of the
Estate aforesaid
that he shall
pay or cause to
be paid unto
Thomas Shane
sonn of John
Shane of Corton
the sume of
Thirty pounds
per annum cleare
of all rates
taxes or other
outgoings
whatsoever And
my Will further
is that my said
son Goodford
shall pay or
cause to be paid
unto John Slade
or his wife when
the labour of
the said John
Slade shall be
done the sume of
five pounds per
annum for the
terme of their
lives or the
longer liver of
them Butt if it
should happen
the said John
Slade or his
wife should
outlive the said
Mr Goodford then
my Will is that
the said Thomas
Shane should pay
the said John
Slade the said
sume of five
pounds for his
life or for the
life of Mary his
wife or the
longer liver of
them And after
the decease of
my said sonn
Goodford I give
devise and
bequeath all my
Estate before
mentioned unto
my Cousin Thomas
Shane son of
John Shane and
his heirs

give to my
brother the said
Henry Jeanes the

she shall have
halfe the goods
to dispose of at
the time of her
decease as she
shall thinke
fitt and after
the decease of

goods unto my
said daughter
Goodford for the
terme of her
naturall life

desire is that
when Thomas
Shane shall come
to be possessed
of the Estate
before mentioned
that he shall
pay or cause to
be paid unto
tenn poore
plough men of
the parish of
Yeovill
aforesaid the
sume of Five
shillings a
peice the first
payment thereof
to begin and be
made at or upon
Christmas day
next after the
premisses or any
part thereof
shall come to or
be vested in the
said Thomas
Shane or his
heirs and so to
continue and be
paid from
thenceforth in
every succeeding
yeare forever
And my will and
desire further
is that my Cozen
Thomas Shane
when he shall
possessed of the
said Estate
shall pay or
cause to be paid
unto tenn poore
plough men of
the parish of
Yeovill
aforesaid the
sume of five
shillings a
peice on Easter
day in every
succeeding yeare
forever And for
the better
securing the
payment of the
said severall
summs of money
and legacies
hereinbefore
mentioned I do
hereby charge
all my lands
tenements and
hereditaments
which shall come
and rest in my
said Cousen
Thomas Shane And
as to for and
concerning the
said peice or
parcell of
ground called
Milford from and
after the
decease of my
said daughter
Mary without any
issue of her
body my wife
also being dead
I give devise
and bequeath the
same unto my
said Cousin
Thomas Burford
and to the
heires male of
his body And for
want of such

said Cousin John

Richard Slade
for and dureing
